My preoccupation with the cosmos grounds my artistic practice in discovery. It begins with the examination of light, its properties, and media, including resin, glass, and gemstones. The result is what I call "tonal paintings", made of unorthodox materials, which produce different hues, values, and energies. Through intensive research and observation, I derive these ocular and kinetic possibilities. After conducting a site visit with my fabrication team, I am excited to present an updated proposal for my first outdoor public project, the largest work to date, a mural that offers it’s viewers a visual escape to sink into. To bring this vision to life, I'll receive fabrication support from stained glass and mosaic experts, Apperlo Art. Together, we aim to create a work that highlights an interplay between glass, gemstones, and mosaic tiles, a departure from my usual paintings by the dual use of these materials to create something entirely new and unique to this installation.

Embracing the principles of Impressionism, the mural will employ an expressive palette and carefully chosen gemstones to convey the dynamic energy and tranquility inherent to Miami In addition to green jade and turquoise, I propose to incorporate jasper, shark teeth, sea glass, moonstone, calcite, and agatized coral, each selected for their unique properties and symbolism. Green jade, renowned for promoting harmony and balance, will be seamlessly integrated to enhance the overall sense of tranquility. Turquoise, with its calming and protective attributes, will contribute to the immersive experience, allowing viewers to connect with the artwork on a deeper, more reflective level. Jasper, with its grounding properties, will anchor the composition, while shark teeth evoke strength and resilience.

Jade Alley provides an ideal setting for this vibrant artwork. Tucked away in a secluded area, the alley serves as a perfect stage for the color palette to unfold, creating a visual oasis within the heart of a commercial space. The juxtaposition of the full spectrum of colors against the urban backdrop invites viewers to pause and immerse themselves in the captivating scene unfolding before them.

Drawing inspiration from my previous work, As Black as the Rainbow, this artwork proposes an inverted iteration of the idea. It incorporates a myriad of colors, expanding upon the traditional rainbow palette to encompass the vibrant hues of multiple suns within our solar system. The scattered black marks or dots throughout the composition allude to the enigmatic colors beyond our visible spectrum—the striations within our color spectrum that astrophysicists are still endeavoring to classify, whether as dark matter or unseen hues. The inclusion of black obsidian alongside other gemstones maintains continuity while adding a new dimension to the piece. This artwork inherently offers a sense of reflection and respite from the surrounding commercial environment, inviting viewers to contemplate the mysteries of the universe amidst the urban landscape.

The artwork will not only be a visual feast for the senses but also a cultural celebration, inviting the community to connect with Miami's urban beauty on a deeper level. Through this visually engaging project, we hope to evoke awe and tranquility, fostering a sense of pride and appreciation.. I am enthusiastic about the possibility of bringing this project to life in Jade Alley and contributing to the cultural vibrancy of the Miami community. I look forward to discussing this proposal further and working collaboratively to create a piece that will be a source of inspiration for years to come.
