7 stained glass windows in the Byzantine style for a project in Brisbane, Australia: the Archangel Michael, the 4 Evangelists and the apostles Peter and Paul, made by Stevan Stanisic and Mila Apperlo. Our first work in Australia, and the farthest.
Our farthest work
In 2009 Stevan Stanisic and Mila Apperlo made 7 stained glass windows, icons in the Byzantine style, for a project in Brisbane, Australia, for the investor Mile Buturovic. It was our first project in Australia and it remains the farthest place where our work can be found.
Highlights
The program opens with a round window of the Archangel Michael, commander of the heavenly hosts, in gold and blue. 4 arched windows show the Evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John with their Gospels, and 2 more show Peter, with the keys of the kingdom, and Paul, the apostle to the nations. Every saint is named in Serbian Cyrillic, crowned with a halo of gold glass and set against deep blue glass, as on a painted icon.
Faces, hands and drapery were painted on the glass by hand and fired in the kiln, then the windows were leaded, crated and shipped across the world. Everything arrived safely and the clients were happy.
