A picture Bible in light
In 2014 Stanisic Studio made 20 new stained glass windows for the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Čeljevo, Herzegovina, in its atelier in Sombor, Republic of Serbia. Arranged in tall arched pairs along the nave, they tell the Gospel in strong blues, reds and golds.
Highlights
The Sacred Heart of Jesus, patron of the parish, stands beside the Holy Family. Other windows show the risen Christ and Pentecost, the Ascension, the Good Shepherd, the miraculous catch of fish, Christ calming the storm and Saint Anne with the young Mary. Faces, hands and drapery were painted by hand in iron oxide paints and fired in the kiln, then every panel was leaded, cemented and installed in the church.
